Maintenance, PLM & Costing
Maintenance (CMMS)
Preventive plans trigger two ways:
- Calendar — every N days; the daily scheduler opens preventive work orders when due.
- Meter-based — every N runtime hours / cycles / units produced. Record meter readings from the Maintenance page; crossing the service threshold opens the work order automatically, and completing it re-arms the trigger from the latest reading.
Corrective work orders link directly to downtime events from the shop floor, and parts cost is captured on completion.
PLM — engineering changes
PLM manages ECOs through draft → in-review → approved → implemented (approvals flow through Momentum). Each ECO carries a document vault:
- Upload CAD, STEP, drawings and specs (revision-tracked).
- Preview images, PDFs and text inline.
- Open 3D models right in the browser — STL, OBJ, GLB/GLTF and STEP/STP render in an interactive viewer (orbit, zoom, pan). STEP parsing loads on demand, so the page stays fast.
Implementing an ECO can publish a new BOM version in the same step.
Costing
Choose FIFO, weighted-average or standard costing per item. Completing a production order captures actual material, labor and overhead cost, computes variance against the standard, writes the variance ledger and posts journals to Accounting — including the inversion entries when output is reversed.
Money flow at a glance
Issue materials → WIP debit (at the item's costing method)
Record labor → labor cost capture (rates per work center)
Complete order → finished goods at actual cost
→ variance vs standard → variance ledger
→ GL journals posted to Accounting
