Your First Hour in the Admin Panel

Your First Hour in the Admin Panel

This page takes a new administrator from the first sign-in to a store that is secure, configured and backed up. Follow the steps in order; each one takes a few minutes.

1. Sign in

  1. Open https://your-domain/login and sign in with the administrator account created during installation.
  2. After signing in you land on the Admin Dashboard at /admin. If you see the storefront instead, open /admin directly.
  3. Bookmark /admin. Staff accounts without an administrative role are sent to their own portal instead.

2. Secure your own account first

  1. Open your profile menu (top right) → Settings.
  2. Under Two-factor authentication, enable it and save the recovery codes somewhere safe.
  3. Add a passkey so you can sign in with a fingerprint, face or security key. See Passkeys & Two-Factor Sign-In.
  4. Change the installation password if it was shared with anyone.

3. Learn the layout

  • Left sidebar: every installed module, grouped. Modules you have not activated do not appear.
  • Top bar: global search, notifications (the bell), language and theme switch, and your profile.
  • Guide button: on every screen, it opens help for that exact screen. See In-App Help.
  • Dashboard cards: one per active module, with a shared report period you choose once.

4. Set the store basics

  1. Settings → General: store name, logo, favicon, contact email and phone.
  2. Settings → Localization: default language, the languages you offer, currency, timezone and date format. The timezone decides business dates for POS, reports and reminders.
  3. Settings → Email: configure outgoing mail and send a test message. Mail that has never been tested is the most common reason notifications do not arrive.
  4. Payments: enable the gateways you use and disable the rest. See Payment Gateways.

5. Invite your team with the right roles

  1. Open Users & Roles. Review the built-in roles before creating your own.
  2. Invite each person with the narrowest role that lets them do their job. Widen it later if needed.
  3. Employees who only need self-service (payslips, leave, stand-ups) should get the Employee role, not an admin role.

6. Take your first backup

  1. Open System → Snapshots and take a manual snapshot.
  2. Set a daily schedule and a retention period.
  3. Plan a restore test into a separate environment within the first month. See Backups & Restore.

7. Know how updates arrive

Self-hosted installs update from inside the admin panel: StoreConsole → Updates shows new versions and installs them without downtime, keeping the previous release ready for rollback. See Zero-Downtime Updates & Rollback.
